The 66th Annual Walter Wise Memorial Police Pistol Match
Dates: September 20-21, 2025

The Walt Wise Match is a 2-day Precision Pistol (AKA Bullseye) match held each year at HH&A’s outdoor pistol range on the 3rd weekend of September. The match is usually well-attended by shooters from up and down the east coast. It’s not uncommon to have competitors show up from as far away as Arizona and Florida to reunite with old friends and fellow shooters for a weekend of pistol competition and great fun. We have even had shooters come from Puerto Rico! It is a social event as much as it is a pistol match!

This year will mark the 66th Anniversary of the match named after Walter A. Wise, a Sergeant in the Pennsylvania State Police, who was instrumental in getting the match started back in 1959.

Match registration may be done online (recommended), by US Mail, or by walk-on (pending availability of space). Click on the link above to either register online or get a copy of the registration form.
Due to the large numbers of shooters expected, we will hold 2 relays of Rim Fire in the morning and 2 relays of Center Fire in the afternoon each day on Saturday and Sunday. You can register to shoot in either Rim Fire, Center Fire, or both gun classes on Saturday or Sunday, or on both days.

In addition, we will have optional 2-Person and 4-Person Team Matches, and a Commemorative Center Fire Revolver Match thrown into the mix.

We use Police-L targets for all stages of the match, and all shooting is done one-handed at 25 yards using turning targets. Scoring and target repair is done by competitors downrange after each 10-shot target is completed.

A safety briefing will be given prior to the start of each relay on both Saturday and Sunday. This will be done during the shooters’ 3-minute preparation period to lay out the safety rules and range operating procedures that all shooters must follow in order to maintain safety and discipline when shooting in our matches.

Cash awards are paid back to winners of the Individual 900 matches and aggregates, 2-Person Team matches, and the Commemorative Center Fire Revolver match, using the Lewis Classification System. Cash awards are also given to the high shooters in the Categories/Special Categories, with the exception of High Junior. Trophies are given to the Grand Winner, to the 1st and 2nd Place winners in Lewis Classes A and B for the Rim Fire and Centerfire 4-Person Team matches; and to the High Junior.

Breakfast and lunch are served at our clubhouse both days for a nominal fee.

Hotels are located close by and on-site camping (no hookups) is available near the range.

Coinciding with our match on Saturday, we will also be holding a Sportsman’s Yard Sale & Flea Market from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the grassy field in front of the clubhouse.

Walt Wise commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase at the range.
